The importance of breakfast

I've always been a fan of breakfast. I've been known to have breakfast for lunch or breakfast for dinner but sometimes have a problem with having breakfast for breakfast. Know what I mean? I even recall wondering on the strip in Vegas looking for bacon at about 3 a.m., but that is a different story.

When busyness strikes, it seems like we all have a tendency to cut out breakfast, or to grab something quick (usually sugary and junky food-- a'la toastar pastires).

Eating breakfast fill us up and gets our body working on digesting the food, instantly cranking up the metabolism. The crank it up to the max, we should mix in calcium (shown by a University of Tennessee study to speed metabolism at certain intake amounts), complex carbohydrates, protein and fiber.

Fiber helps regulate insulin. When insulin spikes and falls wildly, our bodys go into conservation mode, thus storing fat. When our body stores fat, is grinds the metabolism to a crawl. Additionally, some protein (eggs and bacon---yeahhhh) takes more work by our body for the purpose of digestion, thus speeding metabolism. It's also protein that lights up muscle growth. Muscle tissue requires more calorie burn to maintain than does fat.

Hope these tips can help someone. Have a great breakfast on Tuesday and enjoy the rest of your Valentine's Day.
