A delicious way to get the Calcium we need!

So you've read the recent post on the importance of Calcium in our diet, and maybe your clicked the link to read the University of Texas information from their study supporting the fact that calcium supports healthy weight loss. I wanted to do more to support that fact and I've had some help in doing so.

Yogurt is a good source of the Calcium that is so important. You recall that a while back I posted a link for a Yoplait Facebook giveaway that was provided to me by my friends at MyBlogSpark? I hope you took advantage of the coupon. I did, and I wanted to share with you how much I enjoyed the product. Trust me, Im not a professional reviewer(of course, if you've been reading my blog you'd be pretty certain that I'm not a professional reviewer or writer....just a dude trying to lose some weight).

My friends at Yoplait and MyBlogSpark provided me a sample of Yoplait original yogurt to help me realize a super easy way to incorporate calcium into my diet. One of my biggest challenges to following my diet (6 small meals spaced 2.5 to 3 hours apart) is the planning and packaging it takes to make it happen. If I have even the slightest reason to skip doing the right thing foodwise---the guy in me kicks in and I skip. :)

Yoplait orignal comes in 23 flavors and provides a whopping 50% of the recommended daily allowance of calcium.(I used my coupon for Strawberry and it was nice---not so fruity flavored that it was overwhelming, but the right mix to make it enjoyable). On top of that, Yoplait original provides 50% of the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin D. D helps our bodies absorb calcium. None of us have been able read a health and fitness magazine in the past year without reading about the benefits of Vitamin D.

Yoplait has a smooth consistency that my kids like (especially my daughter) and that makes it a treat for me....I look at it as though it's a desert, but all the while enjoy the health benefits. It helps me as a parent to have a healthy snack alternative for my little ones that they think of as a treat but I know is a decent food for them.

The best thing I enjoy about Yoplait is the convenient packaging that is available. I can count three times since January 1 that I had packaged other yogurt in a cheap-o reuseable container, only to unzip my lunch bag at my first snack to find a gooey mess in my lunch bag. Gross and bothersome for the rest of the day. My sample of Yoplait, provided through MyBlogSpark and a free Yoplait Facebook giveaway, ensured that I'd use the product for the ease in pacakaging. No more breaktime messes, and it saves me a few minutes in the morning. I can toss a favorite in my bag rather than rummaging through cabinets looking for the mysterious missing lid for the container that ultimately is so ill-fitting it makes a mess.

  1. I incorporate calcium by eating cheese and having cereal with milk and an occasional yogurt. I don't take supplements
